Veo 4 Features: What Google Shipped, What to Expect, What Works Today
Google has not announced Veo 4 yet. See the Veo 4 features that already exist in Veo 3.1, the Veo 4 features creators expect, and try the Veo 4 option in the generator below.
What Are the Veo 4 Features?
There is no official list of Veo 4 features yet. As of October 2026, Google has not announced a model called Veo 4, and no Veo 4 appears on the Google DeepMind Veo page, in Gemini, in Flow, or in the Gemini API. The newest official Veo models are Veo 3.1, released in October 2025, and Veo 3.1 Lite, announced on March 31, 2026. So when you read about Veo 4 features, the text describes one of three things: features Google already shipped in Veo 3 and Veo 3.1, features creators expect from Veo 4, or the features of a product option that a website calls Veo 4. This page keeps the three groups apart.
Group one: the shipped features a Veo 4 would build on. Veo 3 launched in May 2025 and added native audio: dialogue, sound effects, and ambient sound. Veo 3.1 added richer audio and stronger prompt adherence, plus three tools in Flow and the Gemini API: Ingredients to Video (up to three reference images), Frames to Video (a first and a last frame), and Extend (continue a clip from its final frame). A later Veo 3.1 update added native 9:16 vertical output for Ingredients to Video and sharper 1080p and 4K output in some Google products.
Group two: the expected Veo 4 features. Google has published nothing about Veo 4, so this is expectation, not fact. Veo clips are about 8 seconds, so longer clips are the most requested Veo 4 feature. Creators also expect Veo 4 features such as better character consistency across shots, 4K in more places, cleaner lip sync, camera-path control, and editing of an existing clip. At Google I/O in May 2026, Google introduced Gemini Omni, a separate video model family that edits clips through conversation. Gemini Omni is not Veo, so its features are not Veo 4 features.
What about Veo 4.1, Veo 4.0, Google Veo 4.0, and Veo 4 Ultra? None of these is an official Google model name. Google uses names like Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Fast, and Veo 3.1 Lite. A Veo 4.1 cannot exist before Google releases Veo 4, so any Veo 4.1 page shows guesses or a renamed older model. The word Ultra usually comes from Google AI Ultra, a Google subscription plan (about $249.99 per month in the US) with the highest Veo access in Gemini and Flow. Google AI Ultra is a plan, not a model, so a Veo 4 Ultra with its own Veo 4 features does not exist.
Some people who search for Veo 4 features look for a camera. Veo Cam is a sports camera made by Veo Technologies, a company in Copenhagen that has no link to Google. The Veo Camera app lists Veo Camera 1, 2, and 3, and we cannot confirm a Veo Cam 4. This page covers Veo 4 features of the Google Veo AI model.
Group three: the Veo 4 option on veo4.dev. Veo4.dev is independent of Google. The Veo 4 option in the generator above is our name for the newest Veo tier our provider gives us, which today is Veo 3.1 Fast. You can test its features now: a text prompt of up to 5,000 characters, an optional reference image that sets the first frame, clips of 4, 6, or 8 seconds, 720p or 1080p, 16:9 or 9:16, and Veo audio. It costs 1000, 2000, or 3000 credits, and a failed job is refunded. The Veo 3.1 option uses the same tier and adds a last-frame image.
This page is about Veo 4 features, not dates. For predictions and launch channels, read our Veo 4 release date page. When Google publishes real Veo 4 features and our provider makes the model available, we add it to the generator and update this Veo 4 features page.
Veo 4 Features at a Glance: Shipped, Expected, Available
Each card says if a Veo 4 feature is shipped, expected, or available today.
Native audio (shipped in Veo 3)
Dialogue, sound effects, and ambient sound are generated with the picture. The Veo 4 option on veo4.dev includes Veo audio today.
Reference images (shipped in Veo 3.1)
Ingredients to Video in Flow and the Gemini API uses up to three reference images to keep a person, object, or style consistent. More reference inputs are a likely Veo 4 feature.
First and last frame (shipped in Veo 3.1)
Frames to Video animates the motion between two images you choose. On veo4.dev, the Veo 3.1 option accepts both frames, and the Veo 4 option accepts a first frame.
Scene extension (shipped in Veo 3.1)
Extend continues a clip from its last frame, so you can build a longer shot from several parts. Longer native clips are the most requested Veo 4 feature.
Expected Veo 4 features (not confirmed)
Longer clips, stronger character consistency, 4K in more places, cleaner lip sync, camera-path control, and editing of an existing clip. Google has confirmed none of these Veo 4 features.
The Veo 4 option today
Runs on Veo 3.1 Fast: 4, 6, or 8 second clips, 720p or 1080p, 16:9 or 9:16, with audio, for 1000 to 3000 credits. A failed job is refunded.
Prompts to Test Veo 4 Features Today
Each prompt checks one feature that a Veo 4 would build on.
Veo 4 features test: dialogue and lip sync
Medium close-up of a young chef in a busy kitchen. She looks at the camera and says: "Fresh pasta, every morning, no shortcuts." Pans clatter behind her, warm tungsten light, shallow depth of field.
Veo 4 features test: ambient sound
Wide shot of a wooden pier on a lake at dawn, light fog over the water, a heron lifts off and flies across the frame. Soft water lapping, distant loon call, wings beating, slow pan right, cool blue tones.
Veo 4 features test: reference image as first frame
Starting from the uploaded product photo, the camera slowly pushes in as the sneaker rotates on a white plinth, studio light sweeps across the surface, a soft whoosh sound. Clean commercial look.
Veo 4 features test: camera movement
Low tracking shot behind a cyclist racing through a forest trail at golden hour, the camera rises over a fallen log and follows her into a clearing. Tires on gravel, wind, birds, energetic handheld feel.
Veo 4 features test: vertical 9:16
Vertical 9:16 shot of a street dancer on a rooftop at sunset, city skyline behind him, he spins and freezes in a pose toward the camera. Beat from a small speaker, crowd claps off screen, vivid colors.
Veo 4 features test: physics and detail
Macro shot of honey pouring slowly onto a stack of pancakes, it folds and spreads over the edges, a mint leaf on top trembles. Quiet kitchen ambience, a gentle drip sound, warm morning light, 1080p detail.
How to Use Veo 4 Features on veo4.dev
The wizard at the top of this page has four steps. They show every Veo 4 feature our Veo 4 option offers today.
- 1
Pick the Veo 4 option and write the scene
Select Veo 4 in the model list. Describe the subject, action, place, light, and camera move, and name the sounds, because audio is one of the core Veo 4 features.
- 2
Add a first frame if you need control
Upload an optional reference image to set the first frame of the Veo 4 clip. For a last frame too, use the Veo 3.1 option. Add a short exclusion such as no text at the end of the prompt.
- 3
Set length, resolution and ratio
Choose 4, 6, or 8 seconds, 720p or 1080p, and 16:9 or 9:16. The Veo 4 credit estimate shows before you submit: 1000, 2000, or 3000 credits.
- 4
Generate, check, and download
Credits are deducted at the start and refunded if the job fails. The finished clip is saved to your Dashboard for download.
Which Veo 4 Features Matter for Your Work
Different people need different Veo 4 features.
Social media creators using Veo 4
The Veo 4 features that matter most are native 9:16, sound, and speed. The Veo 4 option makes vertical clips with audio today, so you can post without cropping.
Filmmakers and storytellers
You need longer shots and stable characters, the two most wanted Veo 4 features. Today, plan scenes as several 8 second shots with the same character text, then edit them together.
E-commerce and product teams
Reference images are the key Veo 4 feature for you. Use a product photo as the first frame so shape and color stay right.
Marketers and agencies
Do not sell clients Veo 4 features that Google has not confirmed. Produce with Veo 3.1 Fast now, and plan a refresh when official Veo 4 features exist.
Developers and API users
Real Veo 4 features will appear in the Gemini API documentation with a model identifier and a price. Until then, a third-party Veo 4 endpoint is not an official Google one.
Teams comparing models
Compare the Veo 4 option with Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.0, Hailuo 2.3, and Wan 2.6 in one account.
Tips to Get the Most from Veo 4 Features Today
Write the prompt like a shot list
Give the camera move, lens feel, light, and action in that order. Prompt adherence improved in Veo 3.1 and will stay central to any set of Veo 4 features.
Put Veo 4 dialogue in quotes
Write the exact line in quotes and say who speaks it. Name the sound effects and the background sound.
Reuse one character description
Copy the same description into every prompt, word for word, and reuse the same first-frame image. This is the closest you get to Veo 4-style consistency today.
Test Veo 4 prompts short, then go long
Test a prompt at 4 seconds and 720p for 1000 credits. When the scene works, generate the 8 second 1080p version for 3000 credits.
Check every Veo 4 feature claim
If a list of Veo 4 features does not link to Google, Google DeepMind, Gemini, Flow, or the Gemini API, treat it as a guess.
Veo 4 Features FAQ

No. As of October 2026, Google has no model called Veo 4 or Veo 4.0. Google uses names such as Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Fast, and Veo 3.1 Lite. Any Veo 4.0 feature list is a prediction.
